Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation was bestowed upon the Nikkei Asia Prize on 29 May, 2016 in Tokyo. Naotoshi Okada, CEO of Nikkei Inc. presented it. This recognition is a testimony of Akshaya Patra’s efforts undertaken to respond effectively to social needs for Asia’s better future.

As a part of Akshaya Patra’s Giving Every Dream a Chance initiative, 14-year-old Shivu was enrolled for a mentorship programme under the guidance of Ms Preeti Krishnamurthy, Senior Research Fellow in Astrophysics.

Akshaya Patra decided to give wings to her dreams as a part of its Giving Every Dream a Chance initiative and soon enough, the 14-year-old found herself portraying Kittur Rani Chennamma in the presence of her screen idol, Akul Balaji. Akshaya Patra, as a part of its Giving Every Dream a Chance initiative, brought in Chef Ramasamy Selvaraju of the Vivanta by Taj to mentor Shekar, the 14-year-old aspiring chef. The Akshaya Patra Foundation provides nutrition-rich mid-day meals to over 1.5 million government school children every day and has given them the opportunity to dream.
