Zinkal’s long jump towards the Indian army
The army stands guard to protect the country from the many perils it faces. One of our beneficiaries wants to join this mighty institution to dedicate herself to the service of the country. This young lady is Zinkal Wariya from Bhadaj Primary School in Bhadaj village, Ahmedabad, studying in Std VIII. Her determination finds appreciation among her teachers, who are sure that she will be successful in achieving her dream. They also say the manner in which she handled the Republic Day event is quite praiseworthy.
The daughter of a father who works in a private firm and a mother who is employed as a house help, Zinkal has two younger siblings – a sister studying in Std VII and a brother who is in Std III. Her helpful teachers are the biggest draw as far as school is concerned. Even though she likes all the subjects taught, English is her favourite. Her interests, though, aren’t limited to books and extend to singing, dancing, music – the young girl enjoys playing the Indian percussion instrument tabla – and sports.
Sports, is Zinkal’s passion. She avidly participates in athletic meets in school and is particularly passionate about track and field events. Her favourite is Long Jump and she even made it to the Taluka Level sports meet after performing exceptionally well at the Corporation Level. Akshaya Patra’s nutritious mid-day meals power these pursuits and Zinkal greatly appreciates its meals. She talks fondly about the different dishes served, such as Daal Bhaat, Potato Subzi, Roti, Sukhdi, Khichdi and Daal Dhokli and likes all of them, since they are healthy and nutritious.
