Supporting  Akshaya Patra’s cause, NMDC has presented a cheque of Rs.26.32 lakhs

Bellary- 23 November, 2012:  In an effort to support Akshaya Patra’s cause, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has presented a cheque of Rs.26.32 lakhs to Mr. Vinay N Kumar, General Manager – Operations, Tornagallu and Mr. Chetan D, Manager – Operations of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, on 23 November 2012. The cheque was presented by Shri S.K. Verma, General Manager (Mines), NMDC Ltd, Donimali Iron Ore Mines. The amount contributed was the first of two instalments. The contribution is to be utilised towards the Mid-Day Meal programme run by Akshaya Patra under the aegis of Government of Karnataka. The sponsorship is with the purpose to feed 8000 children under Mid-Day Meal Scheme covering Government Schools in Sandur Taluk. NMDC has been a regular contributor to various developmental and other social upliftment works in partnership with Government of Karnataka.
