Beneficiaries of Akshaya Patra in Bengaluru and Ballari will now get to visit our kitchens in these cities, thanks to a 32-Seater TATA Star Bus donated by Western Digital (formerly Sandisk), on February 8, 2017. This vehicle will be used to ferry the beneficiaries in these locations to the kitchen where they will be given a kitchen tour and will also interact with the staff of the kitchen. This beneficiary engagement program initiated by Akshaya Patra will bring the kitchen staff closer to the beneficiaries and vice-versa. The children will be exposed to state-of-the art kitchen facilities and they will also be able to appreciate the quality and hygiene measures which go into making hot, nutritious meals for them every day. The kitchen staff will also have a wonderful experience of interacting with the children and knowing their aspirations.

The bus was launched by Siva Sivaram, Executive Vice President of Western Digital. Siva reiterated the vision of Western Digital on its social responsibility and stressed on the commitment towards Akshaya Patra as their charity partner. He encouraged the company’s employees to actively volunteer at the Akshaya Patra kitchen and schools and live up to the commitment of the organisation.
