Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister of State visits Akshaya Patra

Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister of State (Steel, Mines, Labour & Employment) visited The Akshaya Patra kitchen in Rourkela, Odisha, on 30 August, 2014. He was accompanied by representatives of the Rourkela Steel Plant – G.S. Prasad, CEO; P.K Pradhan, GM-TA & CSR and Dhirendra Mishra, AGM-CSR.

Impressed by the operations process that he saw as part of the kitchen tour Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his delight at the work the kitchen accomplishes, reaching out to thousands of children in the region with tasty, nutritious and hygienically prepared food.

With the support of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), the highly mechanised, centralised Rourkela kitchen was started in November 2013. Today the kitchen feeds 40,827 children across 433 Government schools in and around the area.

Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the Foundation on the excellent work it has accomplished. Wishing Akshaya Patra all the best for the future, he conveyed his wishes to see the organisation growing even more in the years to come.
