The honourable Mayor Mahabala Marla of the Mangalore City Corporation visited the Akshaya Patra’ Mangalore kitchen in July, 2014. He was pleased with the operations, hygiene, quality of food and the efficacy seen in the kitchen. This centralised kitchen cooks mid day meals for over 19,000 children from 145 government schools in and around Mangalore, every morning.

After the tour, sharing his thoughts with us, the Mayor said “I was very happy looking at the cleanliness maintained in the Akshaya Patra kitchen. Everyone has to take part in this service towards the society. I wish to extend my helping hand in any way possible towards The Akshaya Patra Foundation. And I pray to god that Akshaya Patra continues its work in the future and reach out to many more in the service of the society”.

Karunya Sagar Dasa, Unit President, Mangalore who personally gave the Mayor a tour of the various processes in the kitchen was overwhelmed by the Mayor’s visit and his promise to support the cause of Akshaya Patra and service towards the society.
