On 1 September 2019, Shri Amit Shah – Union Home Minister, Government of India, inaugurated Akshaya Patra’s 47^th centralised kitchen in Silvassa, the capital of the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. This kitchen will enable Akshaya Patra to serve mid-day meals to 65,000 children a school day in the region. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony Shri Shah said, “Children, whose parents were unable to provide them nutritious food, now have Akshaya Patra feeding them nutritious mid-day meals every day.”
