Caterpillar Foundation Extends Support to Akshaya Patra

Caterpillar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Caterpillar Inc. is the latest addition to The Akshaya Patra Foundation’s list of supporters. Caterpillar Foundation partnered with Give2Asia to provide US$1,50,000 for a steam boiler at Akshaya Patra’s centralised kitchen in Bangalore and two state-of-the-art meal distribution vehicles. The custom made vehicles will be used to distribute mid-day meals to children in Government schools across Bangalore.

Commenting on this occasion at the Akshaya Patra’s kitchen in Vasantpura, Caterpillar India-ASEAN Country Manager, Kevin Thieneman, said “Caterpillar Foundation is committed to investing in meaningful social causes in the communities where we operate. We are proud to be part of The Akshaya Patra Foundation to support the critical cause of ensuring nourishment through healthy mid-day meals for school children. The mid-day meal vans supported by Caterpillar will help provide these children with timely, nutritious food which is crucial for their growth and academic development.”
