BHEL Contributes to Akshaya Patra’s Mid-Day Meal Programme
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has extended support to The Akshaya Patra Foundation as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. In an effort to fulfil their shared vision of making the future of children brighter, BHEL has donated five meal distribution vehicles to Akshaya Patra, Guwahati, Assam.
At a ceremony held at Akshaya Patra’s kitchen in Amingaon, Guwahati, Chairman and Managing Director of BHEL, B Prasada Rao flagged off the meal distribution vehicles. These custom-designed vehicles will be an aid in the distribution process and will be used to distribute mid-day meals to Government school children across Kamrup District.
The Guwahati kitchen of Akshaya Patra started operating in February 2010 and is the largest kitchen of its kind in North East India. Currently, Akshaya Patra is providing meals to 512 Government schools in the region.
