Akshaya Patra’s Quality Team held the Six Sigma Rewards for 2014-15 at Jaipur in September. Employees from Vadodara, Nathdwara, Ahmedabad, Vrindavan, Surat, Ballari and Jaipur participated in these projects. The projects focused on implementing improvement and optimisation measures in the Mid-Day Meal Programme. Some of the subjects undertaken for these projects were Route optimisation, MDM distribution, Gas and CT optimisation for roti production, recipe cost optimisation, Cost optimisation in rice and dal packing bag, reduction of diesel consumption in boiler and more. On completion, each project was reviewed and the calculations were done based on the data submitted by the project leaders from the CI team at Akshaya Patra Head Office. This initiative was conducted to encourage continuous improvement at the organisation.
