Wall of Hope and Joy brings a thousand smiles
As part of the initiatives taken to constantly increase awareness about the mid-day meal programme implemented by The Akshaya Patra foundation, the recently organised photography exhibition by the not-for-profit entity, received great response from the public. Titled, “A Wall of Hope and Joy”, the three-day event attracted over 1000 people to the ‘Vismaya‘ Rangoli Art Gallery, Metro station at MG Road, Bangalore. The exhibit was inaugurated by delegates from The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) and professionals from the film and photography industry.
Vasanth Rao, General Manager, BMRCL; Sridhar Venkat, Executive Director, The Akshaya Patra Foundation; Sri Stoka Krishna Dasa, Member, Governing Council of ISKCON; GS Bhasker, cinematographer and Radhakrishnan, renowned photographer were part of the inauguration on Friday, January 10, 2014.
Hordes of people from various professional backgrounds visited the exhibition and appreciated the photographs on display. The exhibit also included 40 best photographs from the recently conducted ‘Click A Smile’ contest which saw over 700 entries. Shots from The Akshaya Patra kitchen operations as well as moments from the various school visits made by Akshaya Patra employees were also showcased.
The work of all the photographers was well received by the 1000-odd viewers. Former Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, A Ravindra who also visited the exhibition said, “This is an excellent exhibit. The photographs reflect children in their simplicity and joy.”
