On February 17, 2017, Akshaya Patra welcomed the employees of renowned international retailer Marks & Spencer, at our Vasanthapura kitchen in Bengaluru. The employees took a tour of the kitchen to understand how the Foundation prepares its mid-day meals. They also volunteered at the kitchen, helping the staff unload rice bags and husk coconuts. The kitchen tour was followed by a visit to our beneficiary school – Government Higher Primary School, Chikalsandra. Here, the employees served meals to the children and also gave them gifts and chocolates.

Mr TG Ganesh, Head, Sustainability, Fire Health & Safety and Business Continuity, Marks & Spencer India, had the following to say about the experience – “We were all very impressed with everything we saw there. We sincerely appreciate the dedication of the Akshaya Patra team at the kitchen in taking the trouble to support the needy kids in those schools that you serve every day. Thank you also for taking us to the school. It was a good opportunity for us to interact with the kids. We were humbled by the experience and it has left a lasting impression in our minds.”

The Foundation thanks them for their words of encouragement and looks forward to welcoming their employees again!
