Inauguration of Agra Anganwadi feeding programme

Akshaya Patra inaugurated its Anganwadi feeding programme at Agra on 14 October. The initiative was inaugurated by the Chief Guest – District Magistrate Pankaj Kumar, as well as Dr. Pareekh, Deendayal Prabhu and other dignitaries.
After the inauguration the dignitaries distributed food to the beneficiaries, and Deendayal Prabhu addressed those in attendance.
The programme will feed children between the age of 3 to 6 in two blocks of the region – Achenera and Agra city. In total Akshaya Patra will be providing the mid-day meal to 675 Anganwadi centers, 167 in Achenera and 508 in Agra city. Out of an enrolled strength of 38,000 children, these centers will have an actual attendance of about 28,000.
The children will be provided with a nutritious meals consisting of dalia, poha and khichdi. Suji Halwa will also be served once a week, while milk and banana will be served twice a week.
The food is currently being cooked from the Akshaya Patra kitchen in Vrindavan.
