Three meal delivery vans were inaugurated at Akshaya Patra’s HK Hill kitchen on 20 August, 2015. The vehicles were donated by DHL Express, a logistics company. The vehicle was inaugurated by R. S. Subramanian, SVP & Country Manager, DHL Express India in the presence of Chanchalapathi Dasa and Shridhar Venkat, Vice-Chairman and CEO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation respectively. The event was followed by the flagging off ceremony for the vehicles.

These meal delivery vehicles have been customised with a honeycomb structure to prevent the food from spilling during transporation, while the interiors of the vehicles have also been insulated to ensure that the temperature is maintained. The vehicles will be utilised to transport the mid-day meals prepared by Akshaya Patra to 18 schools which will feed over 2,500 children.
