The Akshaya Patra Foundation received the “Jury’s Choice Award” in the first edition of Lexus Design Award India 2018 for Design Thinking of its programme titled ‘Unlimited food for education’. The Foundation was recognised for its innovative engineering and leveraging technology to become the world’s largest NGO-run Mid-day Meal Programme providing wholesome lunches to over 1.6 million school children across India, every single day.

About the Award

The prestigious Lexus Design Awards marked its entry into India by hosting its first edition award ceremony in 2018. By offering an international platform to identify and recognize the next generation of global creators and designers, Lexus Design Award India seeks to reward the best industrial designs executed by Indian designers based on the brand’s values of excellence in design, ergonomics, sustainability, technological superiority and responsible consumption. Lexus Design Award India was judged by a panel of luminaries from the design industry. The competition will be an annual event with the aim to bring to life Lexus’ belief in the power of creativity to change the world and build a better future.
